Orioles 0 Jays 5
I didn't see much of this one so really can't say much about it. What I did see, Shaum Marcum didn't look like he had his best stuff but that was still enough to keep the Orioles off the scoreboard. He allowed 6 hits, 2 walks in his 6 innings and struck out 7. A good number of strike outs for Marcum, he usually uses his defense more. He did battle, he threw 106 pitches in his 6 innings. Shawn Camp, Casey Janssen and Kevin Gregg pitched a scoreless inning each to finish off the shut out.
Offensively, we got three runs in the first, 2 off a Jose Bautista triple with an error that allowed Jose to score and that was all the scoring we would need, but Aaron Hill and Vernon Wells hit solo homers in the 6th. We had 8 hits total, 2 each from Fred Lewis, Aaron Hill and Vernon Wells. 1 for Bautista and Buck.
Jays of the Day are Marcum (.283 WPA), Bautista (.162) and Hill (.120). No Jay had Suckage numbers. Nice to see Hill get a couple of hits. There was a story that Hill worked with Cito before the game on his swing. It does seem like he's had some bad luck. It's nice to see some fall in for him.
Today, at 1:00 Eastern, Brett Cecil (4-2, 4.10) goes against Chris Tillman (2-5, 5.40), making his first start of the season.
The big news from the game was that Cito moved Lyle Overbay back a couple of spots in the lineup and moved Bautista up to the 5 spot. Thanks Cito.
Our Ace beat their Ace. Life is good.
