Fresh off their sweep of the cellar dweller Orioles the Jays stroll into KC to face the Royals. Not a bad way to start back after the all-star break. And although we do have take on Greinke in the series finale we have a great opportunity here to string together a nice series of wins.
You have got to feel for the Royals, They have such a rich history, a completely gorgeous park in Kauffman stadium and what sadly only used to be hell of a baseball town. The team itself is just a shell of its former glory and just when things looked like they were going to turn around with young rising stars they have Gordon just completely fall off the table and set them back again. It is hard to win when your two best players are a starting pitcher that goes once every 5 days and a closer that you can't get to.
Today on the mound we have Brett Cecil taking on Kyle Davies. Cecil started the year strong and looked like a potential Ace in the making. Then things started to unravel. Hopefully a start against the Royals and the break is exactly what he needs to get going again. Considering he is already at 93 innings you have to wonder what exactly his limit is going to be for the season. With innings monitoring in effect with the current 6 man rotation they may be able to stretch him out the entire year.
There is no changes to the lineup as we trot out the same one from the Orioles series with Buck behind the plate.
