Game title was inspired by this, a Winnie the Pooh tale come to life.
Yesterday's game was fun. Today, day game the way baseball was meant to be played, no lights. With any luck, we'll have no rain, lightening or twisters taking our players off with Dorothy to Oz.
As we get closer to the trade deadline there are more and more rumors. Rumors are fun, but then when a trade actually happens, it often comes out of no where. Did anyone hear that Alex Gonzalez was going to Atlanta before it happened?
Anyway, the Mets are interested in Scott Downs. Though, I can't imagine why any team wouldn't be interested in him. On the Jose Bautista side, Buster Olney seems to think the Jays are 'bluffing' when they ask for top prospect for him. That he'll be getting '8 figures' in arbitration after the season and that the Jay's wouldn't want to play that much. I don't know about that, I think the Jays have money to pay for the guys they want. I think Jays will hold on to him unless they are offered something they can't turn down.
I don't know is anyone else noticed this in, but in the Dodger/Giants game last night, acting manager Don Mattingly made two trips to the mound in one go, which cost him a pitcher and forced him to bring George Sherrill into the game. Sherrill: a) isn't very good and b) wasn't warmed up. He gave up the game winning hit. Mattingly was managing, because Joe Torre was thrown from the game, when his starting pitcher threw at at Giant batter. That was after both benches were warned. Torre had left the starter in the game, when he really should have been pinch hit for the inning before, just because he wanted a batter hit with a pitch and didn't want to lose a reliever to an ejection. Classy man that Joe Torre. His bench coach was thrown out of the game before that for riding the umpire. So they were down to Mattingly.
Anyway, today's lineup after the Jump:
Yeah we get McDonald in the two spot again. And Molina is in the game, but the rest of the lineup is the same as always. I hope we can get the same offense we got yesterday. It will be a fair bit tougher against Zack Greinke.
News from the corporate overlords, SB Nation has a 'Tumble Blog' now. I won't pretend I know what a tumble blog is (don't bother explaining, I'm happy in my ignorance) but if you do, I'm sure this is the place for you.
Lets have a great start Scrabble. Go Jays.
