Well lets see, first off, last night was nearly as entertaining as it was supposed to be. I had to leave near the end of the 2nd inning and I can remember thinking, Its only 2-0 they are still in it as long as Rzep settles down and settles in. By the time I got to my girls into bed and out to the car to head to the grocery store the Yanks had already hit the Home Runs and the game for all practical purposes was over.
So to recap, There has been one tight and exciting game, one blowout for the Yanks.... that means it is our turn for the blowout right? RIGHT?
Pitching for the Jays is Brett Cecil who last pitched during the the 16-2 blowout against the Red Sox (omen?). He will inherit the tall task of shutting down the Yankees lineup. Opposing him his another good young pitcher in Phil Hughes. Phil and Brett are only 8 days apart in age and both under their respective team control for quite some time. I doubt this is the last time we have seen this matchup. Hughes has faced the Jays twice this season and won both of those contests. The first time out he went 6IP giving up 5ER and 3HR, next time out he didn't quite last as long only going 5.1IP but only giving up 1ER, he struck out 5 and walked 2 in each start.
For the lineup, Snider is out and Lewis is back in batting lead off. Of note Hill has been dropped in the lineup (as first pointed out by Craigincalgary). He bumps Buck and Overbay up while batting in front of EE. It is amazing to see how far he has fallen this year. He is was arguments to be the best 2nd basemen in all of baseball last year (if only he could walk more) and this year he is arguably the worst. Sad considering he is one of my favorites, well its sad anyways but you know what I mean.
Tune in after the jump for lineup and series info.
Keep it Civil and Go Jays Go
