Next Saturday night, we're sending you back to the future! - Gm 109

Lots of Jays news over the last couple of days. We had two players hit the DL in Buck and Litsch. Arencibia and Mills get the call to take their place on the 25 man roster. We also learned that Bautista not only was the player of the week for the last week in July, he also took home player of the month honours for July, not too shabby at all.

There has been a lot of talk on various blogs and papers about how much player time our catching of the future Arencibia will get while he is with the Jays. Everyone here is more then familiar with how Cito conducts his team in relation to veteran and rookie players. That being said with AA coming out in the media and saying that Arencibia gets the bulk of the starts I don't think Cito is going to have much of a choice. I think the most likely scenario is Molina catching 2 out of 5 with Arencibia getting the other 3. You could put money on the fact that Morrow is going to be one of the two that Molina Catches and I would guess that Marcum would be the other. That allows Arencibia to work with Cecil, Romero and Mills all whom he has already played with before in the organization. It may not always work out like this (see tonight for an example) but that is how I would draw it up anyways.

This is the second series of our month from hell. We took 2 of 3 from the Yanks and if we could do it against the Rays that would be awesome. Just one problem.... the Rays are really good and they have had our number for the past few years. Throw in that their pitchers have just been insanely good and with the way our hitters hack at everything it could make for some very quick (and possibly painful) games.

On the bump we have Cecil taking on Garza. Garza is just two games removed from his no hitter and last time out he went 7 innings while giving up 4 Earned in 5 hits and 1BB while striking out 9 which tied his season high for strikeouts in a game. Cecil is coming off a no-decision against Cleveland where he struggled through 6 innings. While he only gave up 1 run he gave up both 5 hits and 5 walks and was in and out of trouble for the entire 6 innings. Lets hope those control problems don't carry into this game as the Rays will certainly make us pay more so then the Indians.

For the lineup, Tom already posted it. We aren't going to see Snider or Arencibia in this game. While I am certainly not happy about Snider being out the lineup, I don't mind Arencibia as much. Maybe it is because I already figured he wouldn't get the start and I had come to terms with it, But also Torgen made a really good point in that thread that tomorrow is an afternoon game which will likely mean that Arencibia is starting. Also given Cecil's last game out it wouldn't hurt to have him throw to Molina tonight who he is used to from throwing to for most of the year.

With Snider out of the lineup the rest just looks about the same as we have seen all year. Molina drops down to 9, Lewis leads off and EE bumps up to 8th.
