Vernon Wells Selected as Finalist for the Roberto Clemente Award

Major League Baseball has selected Vernon Wells as a finalist for the Roberto Clemente Award, an award given each year to a player in recognition of extraordinary community service effort. 

Vernon, among many other efforts, is the Honourary Commissioner of the "Rookie League Program," a summer-long day baseball camp for underprivileged kids and run in partnership with Toronto Community housing.  Wells has been prominent and dedicated in his community service in both Toronto and his native Dallas-Ft. Worth-Arlington. 

You can read more about Vernon's work and the award and vote for Wells at - voting began yesterday and runs through October 8th.  Also, if you vote you will automatically be registered to win tickets to the 2010 World Series, where the winner will be announced.
