Major League Baseball has selected Vernon Wells as a finalist for the Roberto Clemente Award, an award given each year to a player in recognition of extraordinary community service effort.

Wells has been prominent and dedicated in his community service in both Toronto and his native Dallas-Ft. Worth-Arlington.
