Them that live by the home run.....

Mariners 6 Blue Jays 3

We gave up 4 home runs tonight, 3 by Jose Lopez. All their runs scored on homers.

My first chance to see Kyle Drabek and I was impressed. He didn't have a great start but you could see that he'll be a good one. He gave up 4 hits and a walk in his 5 innings. The two homers cost him. He struck out three and had trouble putting his breaking stuff where he wanted it. He got into a bit of trouble in the first inning, with two one out errors, one his own and one by Yunel Escobar, but got a double play ball to get out of the inning.

Cito brought Brian Tallet in after Drabek. That went about as well as you would have expected. He gave up a home run to the first batter he faced. He finished out that inning and pitched a perfect 7th. Cito left in him to start a third inning. He gave up a single to Ichiro to start the 8th (oh heck, everyone give up hits to him) and got Figgins to line out before being pulled for Shawn Camp. Camp has been used way too much of late. He gave up Jose Lopez' third home run to give Tallet another earned run. A ground out and two singles later, Camp's out, Jesse Carlson is in. Carlson got the last four outs of the game.

Offensively we got 9 hits but couldn't seem to string them together to get runs. Vernon Wells had a two run homer (number 29 on the season) and we got another run in the 9th off Brandon League. Vernon and Adam Lind had 2 hits each. Everyone else had 1 except Encarnacion and John Buck, but Buck took 2 walks.

Jose Bautista came with in a few feet of his 50th home run. It just went foul. Hopefully tomorrow....

No Jay of the Day today. Honorable mention to Lind and Wells. Suckage Jays are Escobar (-.117 and an error in the field), Camp (-.100), Encarnacion (-.099) and Snider (-.097).

Tomorrow is an afternoon game, 12:30 start time. Felix Hernandez goes for the Mariners. Shawn Hill for the Jays.
