Blue Jays 2 Rays 3 (10 innings)
I was hoping we would hang on for the win to even our record, but instead we gave up a tying run in the 9th and the game winner in the 10th. That drops us to 4-6.
A little lacking on the offense again. The pitchers:
- Marc Rzepczynski pitched the first 3 innings, no hits, 2 walks and a strikeout. He also hit a batter and got a double play turned for him. Nice job by Scrabble.
- Octavio Dotel got some luck. He got a strikeout, then gave up 2 singles and a wild pitch, but a fly ball to Juan Rivera and a good throw to the plate got him a double play to get out of the inning.
- Casey Janssen pitched a perfect inning with 2 ks.
- David Purcey came in to start the 6th inning and walked the first 3 guys he saw. Brad Mills bailed him out though, coming with bases loaded and no outs, Mills got a quick strikeout and a double play. Brad pitched 3 innings, gave up a solo homer, 5 hits and struck out 2.
- Rommie Lewis started the 9th. Single, sac bunt and line out before Winson Abreu came in and gave up the triple that tied the game.
- Mike Hinchley pitched the 9th and took the loss. A lead off double and a 2 out single scored the run for the Rays.
Offensively, we had 7 hits on the game:
- Rajai Davis started the game off with a home run. 1 for 2 on the day. .200.
- Anthony Gose: 0 for 2, 2 k. .091.
- Eric Thames: 0 for 3. .316.
- Brett Lawrie: 0 for 3, 2 k. .333.
- Travis Snider: 1 for 3, double. .375.
- Juan Rivera: 1 for 3. .333. Also had the assist, throwing out a runner at the plate.
- David Cooper: 1 for 3. .286.
- Jose Molina: 1 for 2, double, walk, K. .375.
- Jon Diaz: 1 for 4. .211.
- Adeiny Hechavarria" 0 for 3, RBI, k. .000.
Nothing else for news out of the game. John Farrell has said he doesn't expect to make the first round of cuts until the weekend.
