I was surprised when it looked like Reyes might make the team, but I saw him in Florida and he looked good and his last start was good but with all the talented pitchers we have, I don't see him staying for very long. Reyes pitched 3 innings, gave up 7 hits and 5 walks, struck out 3, but only 4 runs scored against him. He was pretty lucky really.
Carlos Villanueva pitched 3 hitless innings. Octavio Dotel gave up a hit and a walk while getting 2 outs. Luis Perez looked good in his first major league appearance, 1.1 innings, 1 hit, 2 k.
We didn't do much on offense, only 4 hits. Travis Snider drove in his 10th run and he stole 2 bases. Aaron Hill had a hit, a walk, a steal and scored our run. Hill and Snider lead the team with 5 stolen bases each.
Villanueva gets the Jay of the Day with a .114 WPA. Reyes gets Suckage with a -.281.
Josh Beckett pitched a good game against us, striking out 9 in 7 innings.
John McDonald made a couple of great plays at third, but that was about all we had to cheer today.
Tomorrow is a 1:30 Eastern start. Jesse Litsch and Jon Lester get the starts. It almost has to be more fun than today.
