I’m really glad that worked. Those would have been terrible last words. - Gm 7 - Jays @ Angels - Gamethread

The big news of the day is of course Manny Ramirez facing another drug related suspension and instead of taking the 100 day suspension (It was his second offense) he has decided to retire instead. While he hadn't started hitting as of yet this deals yet another blow to the Rays lineup who are already struggling with Johnson, Damon getting off to slow starts and Longoria hurt. All in all it is looking like it was a good thing we didn't sign him. With the contract he had it looked like he could have been a major bargain. Too bad for the Rays.

Meanwhile, back in Jays land both Brandon Morrow and Frank Francisco took to the hill in some rehab starts/work down in Dunedin. Neither one did very well, but thats why they take rehab starts right? To get back in a groove and get going.

Going for the Jays today making his second start on the season is Drabek. His first start went just about as well as you could possible imagine 1 ER that didn't even come off a hit, he struck out 7 in 7 innings and only gave up 1H. Santana (if I remember correctly anyways) seems to do well against the Jays. His first start went well enough as well. He did give up 3 runs but kept the quality start throwing 6.2IP.

It appears as if SBNation's lineup widget still isn't working like it should so here courtesy of our friends on twitter are the lineups:

From Gregor the Jays:

#BlueJays lineup vs LAA: Davis CF, Nix 3B, Bautista RF, Lind 1B, Hill 2B, Rivera DH, Snider LF, Molina C, McDonald SS

From Victor Rojas the Angels

Izturis-SS/Kendrick-2B/Abreu-DH/Hunter-RF/Wells-LF/Callaspo-3B/Trumbo-1B/Conger-C/Bourjos-CF w/ Ervin Santana-P

The good news is Bautista is back. Bad News is that Escobar is not. He did make the trip with the Jays to the west coast so that at least is a good sign, but personally I hate the thought of a mild concussions. Those things are scary and even the small ones can tend to linger. And as most of us know from our hockey watching tendencies in the great white north, once you have one of these things you are much more prone to a second one. Hopefully he is back soon.

EDIT: Shi Davidi (and others) have tweeted that physical activities didn't show any signs of more symptoms and after some more testing on Saturday we could see Escobar as early as Sunday. Great news.
