Do not speak - unless it improves on silence - May 30 - Indians @ Jays Gamethread

After reading the quotes from John Danks. I figured this Zen quote would work well. I really understand Danks being frustrated and yelling at Bautista. And I understand Bautista getting angry back, who wants to be yelled at? I don't understand Danks' little rant after the game. That didn't improve the silence.

Anyway, tonight we get the AL leading Cleveland Indians. Who figured Cleveland would be 31-19 after 50 games. I know I didn't. They are coming into Toronto on a little slide. They are 2-4 over their last two series, winning 1 of 3 against both the Red Sox and Rays. They were outscored 35 to 14 over those 6 games. I hope we can do as well against them.

I'm sure you all know that Jo-Jo Reyes would set a new major league record for consecutive starts without a win, if he can't pick up the W tonight. That is more a team record than a pitcher record or in this case a two team record. Double Jo has had more than his share of bad luck in his short time with the Jays. With any luck he could have had 3 or 4 wins by now.

Reyes isn't a great pitcher, he really needs everything to go right to do well. He has to hit the bottom of the strike zone with his pitches. He has to get strike calls on those pitches. If he isn't hitting that spot, he tends to get hit hard. He has had some bad luck, the BABIP against him is .347. He doesn't walk many, he hasn't given up many home runs, but he is giving up a lot of fly balls for a guy that has to live at the bottom of the strike zone.

We seem to have settled down the lineup experimentation. Not a bad thing.

I have to run off in a bit but will get to sit in the thread for the start of the game. As always keep it civil and Go Jays.
