Who's Up, Who's Down For the Jays This Week: June 10 to 16th

Is it really Friday again so quick? It was a week we would like to forget. We went 2-4 in our 6 games, an awful series with the Red Sox and a better one with the Orioles.

Rotation

Arrow_up_3

Ricky Romero

Ricky had the one terrific start this week. 8 innings, just 3 hits, 1 earned. He was great.

Arrow_down_3

Kyle Drabek One awful start and he was set down, I should have a bigger down arrow.

Arrow_up_3

Zach Stewart

He gets called up from Double-A, gives us 7 strong innings, I think an up arrow is appropriate. Or course, whether it was good pitching or just a bad Oriole offense is up in the air yet, but he has gotta feel good.

Arrow_down_3

Jo-Jo Reyes

Of the three starters that went up against the Red Sox, Jo-Jo did the best job, which is sort of like picking out the best Bryan Adams album. He had a rough time, 8 hits, 4 earned in 6.1 innings.

Brandon Morrow

An awful start against the Red Sox, 4.1 innings, 10 hits, 8 earned runs and 3 walks.

The Rest

Arrow_up_3

Shawn Camp

He pitched in 4 games. He did a great job last night, coming in with the bases loaded and no outs and getting out the inning without allowing any more runs. In total 4 innings, 6 hits, 1 earned, 1 walk and 3 k.

Arrow_down_3

 Octavio Dotel

Only pitched in 1 game, which considering the series against the Red Sox surprises me. He pitched 1 inning, gave up 2 hits, hit a batter, and gave up a run. With Janssen on the DL, we might see more of him. Oh joy.

Arrow_down_3

Jason Frasor

3 games, faced 12 batters, gave up 3 hits, single, double, homer, walked 1 and allowed a sac fly. He gave up 3 earned runs, all of them in the game against the Red Sox.

Casey Janssen

Pitched in 2 games, one that went really bad, against the Red Sox (of course) and one that was good, striking out the side against the Orioles. And on to the DL he goes.

Arrow_down_3

Jon Rauch

Jon was in 4 games, 2 that went bad and 2 that went well. He took the loss yesterday, giving up 2 hits and 2 earned without getting an out. Betters hit .353/.389/.588 against him this week.

Marc Rzepczynski

Another tough week. I tend to blame the Oriole game on Farrell. He pitched in two games, the Oriole one which was bad. In the other he was one of the few to have a good inning against the Red Sox, 1 inning, 1 hit, 2 strikeouts.

Carlos
 Villanueva

He started the game against the Orioles the other day and was ok, 6 innings, 3 earned, 7 hits, 2 walks and 3 k. I think we might be wanting to put him back into the long reliever job soon. As a starter batters have hit .264/.306/.382 against him, as a reliever they he .132/.230/.224. Maybe when Jesse comes back.

Arrow_up_3

Frank Francisco

He pitched in 3 games, didn't allow a run and picked up a save. In 2.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4. A pretty good week really

Arrow_down_3

Luis Perez 3 games for Luis this week, 1 went well, two went very bad. He pitched a good 1.2 against the Red Sox last Friday, but on Sunday he allowed 4 earned off 5 hits, 1 walk, 2 k and then last night he gave up a hit and a walk without getting an out. ERA of 12.00 for the week.

Arrow_down_3

J.P. Arencibia

JP played in 5 of our 6 games this week, had 17 at bats and only the 1 hit (a double). Yep it was a bad week. I'm wondering if his thumb is bothering him more than he is letting on, but he will be a streak hitter.

Arrow_up_3

Adam Lind

In 6 games hit hit .429/.500/.952, pretty good. 5 runs and 5 RBI.

Arrow_up_3

Aaron Hill

.278/.350/.556. He had a good week. I'm hoping that this is the start to good things for the rest of the season, but it might just be a good week.

Arrow_up_3

Yunel Escobar

Escobar was in 5 of the 6 games this week. He hit .300/.391/.450, so I'm guessing there aren't any lingering effects from his injury. He had a home run and 3 walks.

Arrow_down_3

Edwin Encarnacion

Played in 5 of the 6 games, after a couple of good weeks, he has a down one. .188/.235/..375. He had 1 home run.

Arrow_down_3

Corey Patterson

He isn't having the best of months, this week .200/.222/.200. He scored 1 run, drove in 1, took 1 walk, 1 sac bunt and stole 1 base. I'm still of the same opinion I was at the start of the season, Corey is fine as a 4th outfielder, more than that is asking too much.

Arrow_down_3

Rajai Davis

Another one that had a bad week, he looks really lost at the plate. Speed is a great thing and all, but you gotta get on base some. .136/.136/.181. No stolen bases, no runs, 2 RBI. He did reach base on an error once.

Arrow_down_3

Jose Bautista

At least he had a home run this week. Hit .158/.360/.316. He had 3 runs and 3 RBI. June hasn't been great to Jose.

Arrow_up_3

Juan Rivera

He played in 4 of the 6 games, started 2, pinch hit in two. He had the good game, against the Orioles, going 3 for 4 with a double and a homer. Hit .333/.300/.778 on the week.

Red-cross-icon-1_medium

John McDonald

He is back tonight.

Arrow_down_3

Jayson Nix

Nix started all 6 games this week. He hit .100/.143/.100. He did score 2 runs and stole a base. Please let McCoy play 3rd some.

Arrow_down_3

Jose Molina

Played his usual 2 games this week.He was 0 for 5 but did take 2 walks and scored a run. He got thrown out of yesterday's game.

Arrow_down_3

Mike McCoy

He made it through a whole week without having to fly to or from Vegas, that should be considered a victory. He played in 3 games, starting 2. Only 1 hit in 9 at bats. .111/.111/.222. Please get healthy in a hurry Brett.
