It's the return of Brett Cecil! HOORAY! I've made no secret of the fact that I really like this guy and I have for a couple of years now. I was really disheartened about it when he was demoted this year, but I couldn't really argue the decision. Clearly something was up with Cecil earlier this year, the location and speed were obvious symptoms, but when you listened to Zaun and the other commentators pointing out how he was tweaking his delivery and grip it was clear he needed time away from the spotlight to work on some things. Let's hope that everything is figured out now because this was a guy that was supposed to be a mainstay in the Jays rotation this year.
We have both Patterson and Davis in the lineup again with Edwin at DH. I'm not sure how I feel about all of this as I think despite how poorly everyone is playing in the outfield I would rather see Rivera batting in the lineup over Davis or Patterson and playing LF/RF with Thames in the other corner. Then let Patterson and Davis platoon a bit in CF unless one grabs the position and runs with it. Jose Bautista remains at third despite his most recent comments of helping the team most by playing RF.
Lets hope the Jays come out firing and take the series to get another in the win column. This weekend against the Phillies wins won't come easy.
I get to go to the Halladay game this coming weekend, sitting a few rows behind the Jays Dugout. Can't wait.
Keep it Civil and Go Jays Go
