Man, it is great to see Adam Lind back. Jose Bautista has an 'off' day (only 2 walks) and Adam makes up for it by hitting 2 home runs. Yunel Escobar also had a 3 run shot. Adam and Yunel drove in 6 of our 7 home runs. Aaron Hill got the other RBI with a nice opposite field hit.
We had 11 hits on the day, 4 for Lind, 3 for Edwin Encarnacion, including 2 doubles. Escobar, Patterson, Hill and Molina (who also had two walks and a stolen base!) each had a hit. 0 fors go to Bautista (with the 2 walks), Davis and Nix (2 strikeouts). I'm so sad about Lawrie hitting the DL, tired of seeing Nix in the lineup.
Jo-Jo Reyes gets his 2 second win of the season. He was good, not great. Too many baserunners: 5 hits and 4 walks in the his 6.1, but he only gave up the 3 runs. He battled.
Our bullpen did it's usual good job. Casey Janssen relieved Jo-Jo with 1 out and 1 on in the 7th and got 2 quick outs. Jason Frasor had a 3 up 3 down 8th. Jon Rauch gave up a solo homer and a walk but finished out the game.
Jays of the Day are Lind (.285 WPA), Escobar (.227) and Encarnacion (.113). Nix (-.109) and Davis (-.101) had suckage numbers.
As well as the 0 for 4, Nix cost Reyes a run. In the 1st, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Derek Lee hit a ground ball to Nix. Adam Jones took off for home, Nix had plenty of time to throw home and get the out there, but he didn't look, he threw to first. As it turned out, it didn't matter, we won, but still.
It is nice to see us score some runs for Reyes. I'm hoping the 2nd win in a row is part of a trend. It is also nice to win a series from the Orioles. I don't dislike the Orioles, but I get tired of the media picking them to finish ahead of us each year, so beating them feels good.
We start a 4 game series with the Royal tomorrow, in Kansas City. Tomorrow Brandon Morrow (2-2, 5.06) gets the ball for us, Felipe Paulino gets his 2nd start for the Royals. They picked him up from the Rockies off waivers. He was 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA with Colorado, so far with the Royals he is 0-0 with a 0 ERA in 9.1 innings (1 start, 1 relief appearance). Let's mess up that ERA.
Another fun game to watch and another fun game thread. Thanks all.
