Brandon League is back in the house! Truth be told, I really miss League and he would look great at the back end of our bullpen at the moment, but I would still never reverse the trade that brought Brandon Morrow to our team. Still I am happy for League and the success he has found in Seattle, congratulations go to him for making the all-star team this year.
In today's matchup Brett Cecil matches up against Michael Pineda... Pineda has already faced the Jays once this year and the results were not so good for the Jays he Pineda shut down the Jays hitters fairly well, he went 7.1 innings against the team striking out 7 and giving up 2 Runs (1 Earned). I seem to remember the results being a lot worse for the Jays then the box score would indicate as they did manage 5 hits and 2 walks off of him. I remember his fastball being insane and because he could throw so hard the offspeed was nuts.
Cecil looks to continue to build on a strong return facing the Mariners who aren't exactly lighting the world on fire from the batting box. In his career Cecil has only one start against the Mariners of Seattle and it was a good one as he went 6.1 innings, got the win while giving up 2 runs (lets ignore that he gave up 7 hits and 1BB kthxbai!)
A couple big points of the lineup tonight, Jose Bautista is back! Woohoo! And also Travis Snider is playing CF Woo..... Hoo? I like trying out Snider in CF, his bat can definitely play there so as long as he isn't a complete butcher defensively it does free up a corner spot in the OF, and it is a lot easier to find a corner OF either through FA or in the minors.
Keep it Civil and Go Jays Go!
