Last year I had plans to Toronto to see Roy Halladay's return to Toronto. That turned into a trip to Toronto plus a long drive to Philadelphia. I did get to see Doc pitch against the Jays. The game didn't go well for the Jays. It was great to see Roy smiling yesterday and I'm glad he got a great welcome from the crowd in Toronto. I hope he gets a good welcome again today, and then we beat him. But that will be tough.
Carlos Villanueva gets the start for the Jays. As a starter Carlos is 4-1 with a 4.14 ERA in 7 starts. I'm hoping he is at the top of his game today, because he will have to be to keep it close.
There are other little bits of news. Yunel Escobar will be missing today, and likely a couple more days. Also John Lott twittered that the team won't be calling Jesse Litsch back up 'unless there is an opening or a need to make a change'. I hate the idea of a guy losing his spot on the team because of an injury, you run the risk of players hiding injuries.
Some changes in the lineup today. Aaron Hill and his .285 OBP moves to the top of the order. Corey Patterson in after Juan Rivera's misadventures in LF yesterday. I'm not thrilled with the bottom of the order. Having both Davis and Patterson in the lineup isn't something I like, but having the 2 of them them then Johnny Mac at the bottom of the order doesn't inspire confidence.
As always, keep it civil and Go Jays.
