Happy Roberto Alomar Day - July 31st - Rangers @ Jays GameThread

We get to see Roberto Alomar's jersey get retired today. I'll admit, I think retiring the jersey of someone that only played 5 seasons with the team a bit of a stretch but Alomar was a pretty spectacular player during our World Series seasons.

It is also my youngest son's birthday today.

We have a bunch of changes in the lineup today:

Lineup

TORONTO BLUE JAYS
Rajai Davis, LF Endy Chavez, CF
Colby Rasmus, CF Omar Quintanilla, 2B
Jose Bautista, 3B Josh Hamilton, LF
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B Michael Young, 3B
Eric Thames, RF Mike Napoli, DH
Jose Molina, C Mitch Moreland, 1B
Aaron Hill, 2B Yorvit Torrealba, C
John McDonald, SS David Murphy, RF
J.P. Arencibia, DH Andres Blanco, SS

Escobar getting the day off, after he had a half day off yesterday, courtesy of a very quick thumb by the first base umpire. Having JP DH is an interesting move, if you wanted a hint that Jose Molina wasn't going to be traded today, that's as good as any. They won't be able to take him out of the game, if any move is made, without losing the DH.

Travis and Adam sit, allowing both to have 2 days off with the Jays not playing tomorrow even though it is a holiday Monday. I wish that schedule makers would take Canadian holidays into account when setting things up.

Brandon Morrow needs a bounce back after a really poor start against the Orioles, last Tuesday. C.J. Wilson starts for the Rangers.

Time to watch the ceremony. Go Jays.
