Talkin' revolution and singin' the blues: July 4th Gamethread, Jays @ Boston

Guess Who, taking batting practice, today. Photographic proof he is back.
Guess Who, taking batting practice, today. Photographic proof he is back.

Coming off a great weekend of baseball in Toronto, even with losing 2 of 3, our Jays head to Boston, to play the Red Sox for the first time since back in early May, when we won both games of a 2 game series in Toronto.

As well as an interesting weekend of baseball, this past weekend marked included my 3rd anniversary on the site. Can you imagine doing this for 3 years? I can't. I sure couldn't when I started, I was just going to help out while Hugo was away for a couple of months. Lots of things have changed in 3 years, I'm not all alone in the game threads any more. We get more visitors in a day than we used to get in a month.

I've told this story before but the first game thread I put up, we were visited by a bunch of people from the Seattle Mariner site, I didn't know what I was doing, and didn't know how to ban people (I've learned). It was fun but exhausting. Then I got an email from the nice fellow from SB Nation that manages the baseball sites saying 'now you have to write a game recap.' 'But I'm tired and I want to go to bed.' So I wrote a recap.

A couple of days later, I get another note from him, 'it is a good idea to write a morning post'. You're kidding right, I wrote about the Jays twice yesterday, I got nothing more to say. But I put up a morning post.

Moving forward a couple of days, he sent another note saying 'you know, an afternoon post is good idea'. Uh huh. So I went from rarely writing anything to writing 4 posts a day in a very short period of time. The good part was that no one was reading any of it.

Anyway, about the time I was thinking I had enough of throwing words into a hole, Hugo came back and it was more fun and we started to, slowly, get more visitors and well I'm still here. The fun part of it all is all the friends I've made over the 3 years. We've made a few trips to see games and it has been great to but faces to names.

Lineups after the jump.

So Rajai gets to go back to the top of the order as a prize for a good game. I do like him better there than Aaron.

As always, keep it civil and Go Jays. No pressure Travis, but a home run would be a nice way to come back to the team.
