So much better then yesterday. Lots of hits, good pitching and an easy breezy win. Can't really ask much more of the Jays on a Saturday afternoon. All the more impressive about this win was the number of backup players that were in the lineup in order to give the regulars a day off.

Is it just me or does Adam Lind tend to turn it up a notch when Jose Bautista isn't in the lineup? He only had one hit today but he made it count as he knocked in 4 runs with one swing, he was able to add the 5th RBI later with a sac fly as well. The hit parade was on today as everyone in the lineup had at least one hit for 13 in total (3 HRs, 4 doubles, 1 triple) way to go offense... although you could spread some out some. Lawrie continues to impress at the plate collecting another 2 hits today including the aforementioned triple (1st of his career naturally). Edwin Encarnacion, Lind and Mark Teahen had the Home runs for the home side.

On the pitching side, things went a lot better this time around as opposed to the last time we faced Weaver back in April. This time the Jays were able to knock him out of the game early and keep the pressure up on the bullpen for most of the game. Ricky Romero on the other hand looked great. Of course he didn't start out that way today. In the first inning through a stretch of 10 consecutive pitches Romero threw 10 straight balls. Afterwards he was able to induced the double play ball from Mark Trumbo but that was a rough way to start the game and increase the pitchcount. After the rough first Ricky completely settled down, by the time his pitch count had rolled close to 100 he had thrown 7 innings of 2 hit ball and the only 2 walks came in the first. 1ER and 3Ks on the day. A great day of work for the ace. Miller and Perez combined to close out the rest of the game although they werent exactly dominant, Miller walked one and Perez gave up 2 hits and a run in the ninth.

For Jays of the game this is another one of those ones where because the result was never really in doubt no one was able to accumulate the WPA to get the numbers.

Jays with the numbers - Edwin Encarnaction (.177) Ricky Romero (.179). I'm giving one to Lind for the GS.

No suckage numbers.

Back at it tomorrow for a 1 oclock start. See you then!
