It seems like this whole town's insane: Game Thread - Jays @ Mariners - August 16

For some reason, the Flying Burrito Brothers' song Sin City has been playing none stop in my head, for the last few days. Wonder why? It's funny, the town is likely even more insane than it was back when Gram Parsons and friends were singing this song.

Anyway, it has been a few days since I've watched a full Jays game. I've seen the odd inning or two, here and there, like last night I saw the first 5 innings while waiting to board the plane home. And I saw Vernon Wells get a nice reception from the crowd at Rogers Centre and then go deep on the first pitch he saw.

Did I miss anything important?

Looks like Brett Lawrie has been a one-man wrecking crew. .343/.378/.743 in his first 10 MLB games. Not bad, kid. The little bits that I've seen make it look like he's doing a pretty good job with the glove too.

I enjoyed watching Henderson Alvarez, for the little bit I did get to see, last night. Lots of movement on those pitches. I'm not sure he is really ready for the big leagues yet, but no harm in giving him a taste of what it is like. And nice for us to get a peek at him too.

And our bullpen gets a bit of a makeover. I hope Rauch's recovery goes well. Sounds like FrankMcFrankFrank gets the closer job again. He has a zero ERA so far this month. Casey Janssen moves into the setup role.

Brad Mills (1-2, 6.46) gets the start for the Jays. Jason Vargas (7-10, 4.01) goes for the Mariners.

As always Go Jays and Keep it Civil please. As much as I don't want to be language police, I would like to dial it back a bit from where it was last night. Hugo's mom could be reading.
