While the Jays were able to score first on the night with another Brett Lawrie home run it was no where near enough as Shields was able to shut the offense down the rest of the way.

In yet another game the loss itself seems overshadowed by other developments. Tonight Jose Bautista was not having a good night at the plate, he disagreed with the umpires call on his first K and then in the followup at bat Shields made him look downright foolish, in the 6th Shields got him with almost exactly the same pitch. Upon his return to the dugout he decided to take his frustrations out with a bat against the dugout wall. The umpire obviously heard or saw something he didn't like and toss Bautista from the game after that. Bautista didn't take too kindly to this and decided to start throwing stuff out of the dugout.

Im going to be honest here, I wasn't too impressed with this outburst. I normally don't put too much stock into off the field stuff but Bautista is quite obviously the leader on this team. And in my opinion this little outburst of emotion will actually give the writers who vote on the MVP another excuse not to send a ballot his way.

At the plate the team only managed 7 hits all singles except for the big blast from Brett Lawrie early in the game.

Alvarez wasn't terrible but wasn't good either. 4 hits through 6 innings, unfortunately 3 of those hits cleared the fence. He had 6Ks 2BBs and 4ERs.

It was a pretty miserable game to watch all in all.
