One of those 'pitchers are ahead of batters' days. At least for the Jays' offense.
The Jay pitchers we were interested in did well:
- Ricky Romero: 2 innings, 1 hit, 6 ground outs.
- Chad Jenkins: 2 innings, 1 hit. 4 ground outs, 1 fly, 1 k.
- Luis Perez: 2 innings, 0 hits, 1 k, 5 ground outs.
And the ones we aren't interested in had a tough day:
- Rick VandenHurk: 1 inning, 3 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned, 2 walks.
- Jesse Chavez: 1 inning, 2 hits, 1 earned.
- Bobby Korecky: 1 inning, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, 1 k.
The bats did very little. Of note:
- Yunel Escobar: 0 for 3.
- Omar Visquel: 1 for 1.
- Kelly Johnson: 2 for 3, k.
- Jose Bautista: 1 for 3, double.
- Adam Lind: 0 for 2, walk.
- Brett Lawrie: 2 for 3, double, k.
- Edwin Encarnacion: 0 for 3, a couple of hard hit balls.
- Travis Snider: 0 for 3, 3 k. Not a good day. 2 of the strikeouts were against lefties (Cliff Lee got him once) but still not a good showing.
- J.P. Arencibia: 0 for 2.
- Rajai Davis: 1 for 2.
Jays fall to 2-2 on the spring. It wasn't the most exciting game to listen too. Tomorrow the Jays have the Red Sox come visit beautiful Dunedin. That game isn't on MLB Audio so we'll likely skip the GameThread.
