Jays @ Indians - April 7th 2012 - Everyday Edwin's shufflin'

Edwin Rocks. That is all (H/T to The Blue Jay Hunter)

I am not sure how anything could follow up the season opener that we had on Thursday. That was simply a game that everything you could ever want in a game. Drama good (and bad) defense, clutch hitting and even some great pitching throughout most of it. The Jays re-modeled bullpen looked in fine form and even though Perez walked a few and looked shaky early on, I thought he settled in nicely as the game went longer.

Today's gamethread much like the ones on opening day is brought to you by Yahoo! Full Count. Tom talked about the new series here. Yahoo is nice enough to help us keep the lights on so do us a favour and check it out to see if its something that you like.

Brandon Morrow will get the start on the mound opposite Ubaldo Jimenez. You may remember that Ubaldo was suspended for actions in a spring training game, well he is appealing the suspension and as such will continue to be able to appear in games until it is settled. I've always thought suspensions for pitchers is a weird situation. A 5 game suspension for a starter is akin to saying you are missing one start, and given a schedule and day offs maybe not even that. In fact Jordan Bastian is tweeting that Ubaldo will likely drop the appeal after the start today. He would miss 5 games but the Indians wouldn't have to call up a starter due to a day off. Sounds like a lot of punishment huh?

Morrow for the Jays looks to start the year off right in what is yet another year of people expecting him to breakout. I like Morrow, I've said I have a fondness for pitchers who are able to miss bats but at this point I am starting to wonder if he is going to be able to take that next step in his consistency. There are times when he is absolutely dominant and other times when he looks lost. Granted even with the inconsistency that he has displayed to this point I would gladly take him in the rotation over a lot of other pitchers in the league.

The lineups (after the jump) are the same for both teams that we saw on opening day.

Reminder a few ground rules for the gamethreads that are in effect.

1. Please no Gifs or large images during the game threads. The threads go by quick and with a lot of people tend to slow down for people. We understand it isn't as bad for people already in the thread but anyone new coming in has a nightmare of a time loading mutliple images. --- As a side note as the game end we will lift the ban and you can go as crazy as you like.

2. Don't argue with any of the moderators. Think of it like arguing balls and strikes, you can get tossed. If you have a problem with the rules feel free to e-mail either Tom or myself (our e-mail is at the bottom of the page). Rules link
