One of the two remaining original starters from the beginning of the season, Henderson Alvarez, will be going to make a trip up the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays today against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim today. Alvarez has not done well lately, but he has pitched at least 6 innings in every start since the middle of May. He still carries a ridiculously low K/9 (2.75) and his ERA is still more than a run under his FIP.
Young right-hander Garrett Richards gets the call for the Angels today. The 24-year old carries a sparkling 1.63 ERA, just under 2 runs off of his FIP, so let's hope for some regression there. Last turn of the rotation against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he gave up 3 runs on 8 hits over 6.2 innings.
