BBBWA Award: Play Of The Month For July

BBBWA Award
BBBWA Award

Good morning, Bluebird Banterers, on this beautiful holiday Monday in Canada! The ballot for the Bluebird Banter Writers' Association Award for Pitcher of the Month was released yesterday. There is still some time to vote, so make sure to go and make your selection if you haven't done so already. Of course, even readers who aren't members can, and are encouraged to, vote!

We are now opening the ballot for the Play of the Month and we are asking you to vote for what you thought was the best play completed by the Toronto Blue Jays in July 2012, using whatever definition of "best" you like.

Just a warning, if you are a fan of a certain former Blue Jay, you may want to watch the clips with tissues within reaching distance. And an interesting thing to point out from last month's vote for this award: all the players involved are currently injured (that is the secret answer to the bonus game). Disclaimer: Bluebird Banter holds no responsibility for the health and well-being of this month's nominees.

The plays nominated for the award all received at least 2 nominations from Bluebird Banter staff, and are listed in chronological order. A play could be any highlight occurring on the field of play--whether it is a web gem or a fantastic pitch, or a game-winning homer.

So which play did you vote as your favourite Blue Jays highlight of the month? Were there any plays not listed that we should have nominated?

This poll will be open until Wednesday, August 8 11:00 am Eastern. Official announcements of the winners will be made shortly afterwards.

Nominees and videos after the jump!

Brett Lawrie barehands a bouncer to get Jeff Francoeur (July 5)

Travis Snider's diving catch to rob Jarrod Saltalamacchia (July 21)

Jeff Mathis hits a bases-clearing double to give the Jays the lead (July 27)

Travis Snider's diving catch to rob Prince Fielder (July 28)
