DeMarlo Hale interviewed for Nationals' manager job

Tom Szczerbowski

The Washington Post is reporting that Blue Jays bench coach, DeMarlo Hale, was interviewed for the open manager job with the Washington Nationals.

The Nationals interviewed Toronto Blue Jays bench coach DeMarlo Hale for their managerial vacancy sometime in the past two weeks, according to a person familiar with the situation. Hale, who has also coached for the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox, becomes the third external candidate the Nationals have interviewed as they seek a replacement for Davey Johnson.

Yeah, it is a slow news day week month.

Hale interviewed for the Blue Jays' manager job, which went to John Farrell in 2010, and was thought to be one of the final four finalists.

Hale likely deserves a shot at a manager's job somewhere, he's well thought of in the MLB. It would be too bad to lose a good person from the team, but you'd have to feel happy for him to get a promotion. I hope things work out for him.
