Things have been a little better the last couple of weeks for the Blue Jays. 7-5 over that time. Our batters have averaged 5.75 runs a game and had a .284/.345/.464 line. So we'll see a lot more up arrows than last time.

J.P played in 11 of the 12 games over the last two week, though in 3 of those games he entered late as a pinch hitter, then stayed in to catch. He hit .211/.231/.368, with no walks (his last walk was April 22), 2 home runs, 4 RBI, 9 strikeouts, 1 hit by pitch. The lack of walks is annoying. Last year he only walked once every two weeks, but somehow he has been even worse this year. It is funny, he seems to get to 3 balls fairly often, but won't take ball four no matter how far off the plate it is. |

Edwin played in all 12 games. He hit .267/.364/.422 with 2 home runs, 10 RBI, 1 steal, 7 walks, 7 k. 10 RBI in 12 games is great rate, guys are getting on base. 3 games at DH, 9 at 1B. |

Maicer Izturis |
Maicer played in 10 of the 12 games, splitting time between short and second base. He's hitting a little better than he was back in April, but still not great. .265/.286/.441, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 1 walk, 3 k, 2 caught stealing including that awful attempt at a steal of 3rd that Gibbons was not happy with. A marginal down arrow, not a terrible couple of weeks, but he doesn't get on base enough to forgive getting thrown out steal twice. |

Munenori played in 10 of 12 games. Pretty good batting average and he gets on base, no power at all, .273/.370/.273, 5 RBI, 3 stolen bases, 4 walks, 3 k. And a very poorly timed error. Brett played in 11 of 12 games. The two week numbers do not look good: .182/.265/.295, 1 home runs, 3 RBI, 1 caught stealing, 4 walks, 8 RBI. But the last week has been much much better, .316/.381/.579, so maybe something has clicked. His defense has been just great. He gets a down arrow, but I'm feeling hopeful that he's got his timing back. |

Even with the sore legs, Melky played in all 12 games, but he did DH 5 time. We have too many DHes at the moment. He hit .380/396/.560, 6 doubles, 1 home run, 2 walks, 6 k, 8 RBI. He has such a good bat, even if he can't run. |

Played in 10 of 12 games, I'm good with him sitting against lefties. Not a great two weeks for his bat, .200/.317/.400, 2 home runs, 7 RBI, 5 walks, 17 strikeouts. Lets repeat 17 strikeouts in 35 at bats. Good glove in CF. |

Hes hot. .381/.473/.619, 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 10 RBI, 1 steal, 9 walks, 6 k. The last week has been even better, .444/.545/.833. I'm guessing his back is feeling better. Last year he had a bad April and a good May too. He's been so good that Dirk hasn't talked about trading him in days now. |

Played in just 8 games of the 12, but hitting great .407/.448/.815 with 3 home runs, 2 doubles, 5 RBI, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts. The walk count is down but I'm ok with it. Loved the home run that won us the game in extras. |

Yay, he's gotten his batting have to .200. And he hasn't made an error in a long time. Hit .280/.280/.440 with 4 stolen bases, 4 RBI,. 0 walks, 5 k. He only has 3 walks this year, with his speed, walking more would be great. Even without his speed walking more would be great. The last week he's hit .375/.374/.625. Even with the .280 OBP, I'm giving him an up arrow because he's doing so much better than he was. Hitting ok is so much better than hitting terribly. Someone should do a study on whether more Dominicans are slow starters than players from other places. | |

I feel like I owe Mark an apology. He's been great over the past two weeks. He played in 8 games, starting 5, the designated 'play against lefties' guy. Hit .318/.375/.682, with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 7 RBI, 2 walks, 3 k. Gibby has had him playing 2B a lot, he doesn't look good there, but we need the bat. Great job Mark. |

Played in 4 games, 13 at bats, 2 hits, 1 double, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts. .154/.154/.231. I am not a fan. On the season he's had 5 passed balls, with 2 wild pitches, it happens with a knuckleball pitcher. 3 steals with no caught stealing yet. |
