So Dirk Hayhurst created a bit up an uproar with this:
Forget the hair, I just saw video of Buchholz loading the ball with some Eddie Harris worthy slick'em painted up his left forearm. Wow.
— Dirk Hayhurst (@TheGarfoose) May 2, 2013
Then Hayhurst talked about it on Baseball Central, saying Buchholz was 'absolutely cheating' 'definitely loading up the ball', figuring it was Crisco that he was putting on the ball. He also said that every pitcher does the 'sunscreen and rosin'.
And Sportsnet has a photo that shows Clay touching his arm and has the clip from Baseball Central. Take a look.
Dirk has written about cheating before and I'd imagine, as kind of a fringe prospect himself, he learned all the ins and outs of loading a ball:
Sure, you could get caught, but that's part of the thrill. Besides, it teaches you how to detect other cheaters, and if you think pulling a fast one is fun, wait 'till you bust someone for "trying hard" against you.
So what do you think?
