Blue Jays DL Brandon Morrow, Option Chad Jenkins, Call Up Ramon Ortiz and Mickey Storey

Time for our daily roster move post.

Not exactly the roster moves I was expecting.

The bad news is that Brandon Morrow is going on the 15-day DL with forearm soreness. That's not good news, but not really unexpected.

Chad Jenkins was optioned down to the Buffalo Bisons. That one surprises me, I thought he was doing a good job our rotation. I would have kept him around, but then I'm not running things.

Rickey Romero was outrighted to Buffalo, to make room on the 40-man roster. That's not a surprise either, he wasn't going to coming back to Toronto any time soon, so why have him take up a spot on the 40-man.

Coming to Toronto are Ramon Ortiz and Mickey Storey. Ortiz was just DFAed on the 29th of May, and outrighted to Buffalo on the 31st, back on the June 1st. He gets Romero's spot on the 40-man. In 6 games, 3 starts, he had a 5.01 ERA with the Jays. I'd imagine that he will get Sunday's start in place of Morrow.

Mickey Storey pitched for us twice, in an earlier call up.In 3.2 innings he gave up 6 hits, 3 earned, 1 walk with 5 strikeouts.

I figured we would be seeing Dustin McGowan, but I guess, since he can't be sent back down easily, he's out of options, they want to be sure he is going to stay before they bring him up.

The Jays will be adding Josh Johnson to the roster before Tuesday's game against the Giants, so more stuff will be happening.

I guess our hope for another position player died sometime around the 12th inning last night. It is too bad, we really could use someone that could pinch hit, but since everyone but Brad Lincoln pitched yesterday, we need to keep bodies around.

You know the curse, may you live in interesting times, we are being cursed with an interesting season. Not a good season, but an interesting one.
