Minor league recap: July 9, good games from Brett Lawrie and Ricky Romero

I put this together last night and then my router died. Couldn't post it, and spent the morning buying, putting together and setting up my new router (with a fair bit of swearing mixed in).

Buffalo Bisons (46-45) beat Syracuse Chiefs (38-54) 6-2

  • Rickey Romero: 7 innings, 6 hits, 2 earned, 1 home run, 2 walks, 7 k. Win. 1-3 with a 6.15 ERA in 12 Buffalo starts. In his last 3 starts he has allowed 5 walks and has 17 strikeouts in 19 innings putting up a 3.79 ERA. Nice to see improvement. Finally.
  • John Stilson: 2.0, 2 k. 1.90 ERA in 23.2 Bison innings.
  • Brett Lawrie: 2 for 4, home run, 3 RBI, 1 walk, 1 k in his first Bison game. I figured they would leave him in Buffalo until after the All-Star break, but with how bad our offense has looked, if he has a couple of good games, they might bring him back quicker.
  • Kevin Pillar: 3 for 4, triple, caught stealing. .373/.420/.693 in 19 games with Buffalo.
  • Ryan Goins: 1 for 3. .264/.318/.370.
  • Anthony Gose: 1 for 4, double, k. .223/..310/.308.

Dunedin Blue Jays (44-40) lost to Tampa Yankees (36-48) 0-7 in 7 innings.

  • Shawn Griffin: 2.0, 5 hits, 5 earned, 3 walks, 3 k. Loss, 0-3, 6.28.
  • Marcus Knecht: 1 for 3. .225/.289/.340. Marcus got the only hit of the game for Dunedin.
  • The teams also completed a game that was suspended on June 30th, Dunedin won 8-4.
  • Jesse Henandez: 6.2, 5 hits, 3 runs, 0 earned, 7 k. 5-6. 3.09 ERA.
