Minor league recap for July 17: Ricky Romero goes 8 good innings

New, comments

A good day for Ricky Romero, Melky Cabrera and Kyle Drabek. Bad day for all the Lugnuts bats, they were no hit by the Clinton Lumber Kings.

Buffalo Bisons (49-47) beat Scranton Rail Riders (48-49) 7-1 (Sunday, July 14)

  • Ricky Romero: another very good start for Ricky. 8 innings, 4 hits, 1 earned, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts and the win. He is 2-3 with a 5.56 ERA for the Bison, but over his last 4 starts he's gone 27 innings, allowing 9 runs (3.00 ERA), 6 walks, 21 strikeouts. Anyone else think he could get the 5th start after the All-Star break?
  • The Bisons scored 7 runs off 4 hits (but then they took 7 walks)
  • Mike McCoy: 0 for 2, 2 walks. .261/.383/.339.
  • Munenori Kawasaki: 0 for 2, walk, steal, sac bunt. .364/.500/.364 in 4 games with the Bisons.
  • Kevin Pillar: 1 for 4, k. .348/.400/.609 in 24 games.

  • Melky Cabrera: 2 for 4, steal. .364/.364/.636 in 3 games to start his rehab. The stolen base is what interests me. He must be running better.
  • A.J. Jimenez: 1 for 3, double, walk, k. .343/.376/.454 in 27 games.
  • Brad Glenn: 1 for 3, walk, k. .272/.349/.478.

  • Kyle Drabek: 3.0, 1 hits, 0 walks, 2 k. 4.38 in 6 games, 12.1 innings, 2 walks, 11 k. Not a bad start to his rehab.

Lansing Lugnuts (38-56) lost to Clinton Lumber Kings (46-48) 0-1

Lansing was no-hit by Clinton pitcher Victor Sanchez. They didn't get a walk either, but Dalton Pompey was hit by pitch and Clinton made 2 errors, so the Lugnuts had 3 base runners.
