Happy Birthday R.A. Dickey

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

R.A. Dickey turns 40 today.

40 is old for a baseball player, not so old for a knukleball pitcher.

In 2 seasons with the Blue Jays, he is 28-26 with a 3.97 ERA in 68 starts, 440.1 innings. Not bad for an old guy. We have him signed for next season and have a team option on him for 2016. I wouldn't be surprised if he made 34 starts in each of those 2 seasons.

There is a value in racking up 200+ innings with an league average ERA, especially when you do it in a hitter's park in the AL East. He might not be the Ace we were expecting but he hasn't been terrible.

Happy Birthday R.A. I hope it is a great one.

On a not so related noteOOTP Baseball is on sale for half price.

One of the things you can do, if you like, is erase the trades. You want to see what you could do with the team if they didn't make the big trades with the Marlins and Mets? Well, you can move the players back to where they were before the trade. You want Noah Syndergaard, Travis d'Arnaud, Henderson Alvarez, Adeiny Hechavarria, Jake Marisnick, even Yunel Escobar back on the team, you can move them back and see what you could do with those players. You want Yan Gomes back, bring him back. Play with all the 'what ifs' you want.

And in 'you knew it was going to happen sooner or later' news, Jose Canseco' shot himself in the hand' while cleaning his gun. "Canseco reportedly shot off his left middle finger while cleaning his gun". There really is no understanding the guy. His life is really like a dice game. "Roll a double 6, and Canseco joins ISIS".
