The Blue Jays have picked up first baseman Matt Hague off waivers from the Pirates. He will be joining the Buffalo Bisons, helping out for their playoff run.
Matt is a 28 year old, right-handed hitting first baseman. He was hitting .267/.365/.448 with 14 home runs for the Indianapolis Indians with 46 walks and 66 strikeouts and he was an international league All-Star. He also had a call up to the Pirates in July, but he only had 2 at bats. He also played 30 games for the Pirates in 2012, hitting .229/.270/.257. In a 7 year minor league career, he has a .293/.367/.425 slash line with 67 home runs and 432 RBI.
The Bisons are 68-60 sitting in 3rd spot in the ILS, 6.5 games back of the Syracuse Chiefs.
I wouldn't expect to see him in Toronto, but I guess you never know what might happen after September 1st.
