We did one of these back in September, Alex had 29% approve, 31% neutral and 40% do not approve. I figured it was time we did another.
Alex has had a strange off-season. Well, strange isn't the word..He's had an active off-season but not in the way I expected. He came into the winter talking about how the bullpen needed improvement and how that was going to be his main focus. So far he hasn't done much towards remaking the bullpen, but he has accomplished a number of other things:
- Claimed Justin Smoak.
- Claimed Andy Dirks.
- Traded for Brett Lawrie, Sean Nolin, Kendall Gravemen and Franklin Barreto to the A's for Josh Donaldson.
- He signed free agent catcher Russell Martin.
- Traded Anthony Gose to the Tigers for Devon Travis.
- Traded J.A. Happ to the Mariners for Michael Saunders.
And, of course, Colby Rasmus, Melky Cabrera, Dustin McGowan and Casey Janssen. Dustin and Casey haven't signed with anyone yet.
He has been very active this winter, making moves that surprised us all. Added in is the distraction of Edward Rogers III playing ring master of his own three ring circus, testing out MLB's tampering rules.
Tell us what you think of the job Alex is doing.
