Plenty of action in the American League today that could help determine potential playoff match-ups. All games are free on MLB TV, so there is a surplus of baseball to watch before today's Jays game.

Yordano Ventura and the Kansas City Royals have jumped out to an early lead against the Minnesota Twins. If the Royals can maintain its lead, Kansas City would temporarily take over first place in the American League. If the Royals lose, the Blue Jays would have to win only one of its remaining two games to clinch home field throughout the playoffs. The Twins would be eliminated from the playoff picture with a loss.

In related news, Texas has jumped out to an early 1-0 over the Los Angeles Angels. The Rangers can clinch the division title with a victory, but the Angels desperately need a win to catch Houston in the wild card race. The Astros, who currently have a one game lead on the Angels for the final playoff spot, will face the Arizona Diamondbacks later tonight. Collin McHugh will be up against Jeremy Hellickson in that game.

For all those taking advantage all the free games on MLB.com, feel free to discuss the action here.
