Yeah, this doesn't look good.

Two games today, one against the Canadian Junior Team, one against the Braves. Let's look at the Braves game first:

Blue Jays 10 Braves 5

Marco Estrada had a much better showing than his last one. Marco went 3 innings, allowed 3 hits, no runs, 1 walk with 2 strikeouts. Nice to see him bounce back from the 7 runs he gave up last time out. His ERA is now 9.39.

The bad news, Ramon Santiago was taken to hospital for X-rays after injuring his shoulder/collar bone making a diving catch. Very bad for Santiago, who had a shot a the utility infielder job. Hoping it doesn't turn out as bad as people there are making it sound.

Other pitchers:

  • Todd Redmond: 2 innings, 3 hits, 1 earned, 1 k. He has a 1.80 ERA.
  • Scott Copeland: 2 innings, 5 hits, 4 earned, 1 k, 1 home run. 7.20.
  • Colt Hynes: 1 clean inning. 0 ERA.
  • Bo Schultz: 1 inning, 1 k. 0 ERA.

Batters:

  • Jose Reyes: 2 for 3, double, triple. .389.
  • Josh Donaldson: 1 for 3, walk, k. .188.
  • Jose Bautista: 2 for 2, home run, 1 walk, 3 RBI. .357.
  • Dioner Navarro: 2 for 4, 1 k. .286.
  • Daric Barton: 2 for 3. .160.
  • Justin Smoak: 1 for 2. .143.
  • Dayan Viciedo: 1 for 4. .286.
  • Caleb Gindl: 1 for 3. .435.
  • Josh Thole: 1 for 3. .357.
  • Ryan Goins: 2 for 4. .348. Suddenly he has a better chance at a job.

Canadian Jr. Team: 3 Blue Jays: 17

They didn't take it easy on the kids.

R.A. Dickey went 5 innings, allowed 4 hits, 2 earned, 1 walk, 1 k. Russell Martin had 2 passed balls on the day. Please Jays, understand that passed balls happen with knuckleball pitchers. Don't give up on Martin.

  • Eric Jeff Francis: 1 inning, 2 k.
  • Wilton Lopez: 1 inning, 1 k.
  • Andrew Albers: 1 inning, 1 hit, 1 earned, 1 k.
  • Ryan Tepera: 1 inning, 2 k.

On offense, there was tons of hits, 18. Unfortunately, for the hitters, the stats in this game don't count for spring numbers.

  • Dalton Pompey: 1 for 4, double, k. His brother made a catch on the fly ball he hit his first time up.
  • Munenori Kawasaki: 2 for 3.
  • Russell Martin: 1 for 3.
  • Jack Murphy: 2 for 3, home run.
  • Matt Hague: 2 for 4, double, k.
  • Chris Colabello: 1 for 3.
  • Maicer Izturis: 2 for 3, double.
  • Devon Travis: 1 for 3, double.
  • Anthony Alford: 1 for 2, 3 walks.
  • Roemon Fields: 3 for 5, double, home run.

Tomorrow is a rare spring off-day for the Jays. Tuesday we play the Yankees and it is on MLB.tv.
