Maicer Izturis leaves game with groin strain

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Maicer Izturis left today's Blue Jays game against the Rays in the 3rd inning, with a groin strain:

With opening day just 16 days away, it is possible that Maicer may miss it, depending on how bad of a strain it is. Poor guy doesn't get any luck. Course that makes him a Blue Jay.

It also makes it more likely that Devon Travis will make the team, since he and Izturis were competing for the second base job.

Hopefully it isn't a bad strain. After missing almost all of last year, I was hoping that we'd get a full season out of Maicer. He had a single in the first inning of the game, bringing his spring average to .125. Travis is hitting .344 with 4 doubles on the spring, after starting out 0 for his 5 games.
