SB Nation and FanDuel partner for a $6000 Opening Day contest

SB Nation and FanDuel are hosting a $6000 fantasy baseball contest for Opening Days. A $5 buy in gets you the chance to win $1000 and four tickets to a game, if you win.

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

SB Nation is partnering up with FanDuel to bring us a daily fantasy baseball game. Some of you might remember FanDuel from last year. We had the same sort of partnership with them last year. This is an excusive deal with FanDuel, they are our only fantasy partner.

I'll admit, I'm not a big fantasy baseball fan. I spend enough time on baseball already (my darling wife would tell you that I spend too much time on baseball, she's wrong....I also spend some time sleeping), so I just don't feel the urge to spend more of it on fantasy baseball. The couple of times I've tried it, it was far too time consuming for me. But I did play and enjoy the FanDuel game. The time investment was fairly minimal, it is just a one day game, so, if I had time in the day, I'd spend a few minutes picking out a team for that day. If I didn't have time, I skip that day's game.

The FanDuel game is like that, you can play everyday, or once a week or once month. The rules are here. The short version: You pick a lineup for that day's game, keeping under a salary cap. Your lineup competes against everyone else who put a lineup together that day.

Or, if you would rather not read.....we have a video showing you the rules:

FanDuel has some free games, but most of the contests have a small buy in. Our SB Nation Opening Day Contest costs $5 but then there is a $1000 prize (plus four tickets to a game) for the winnner and anyone that finish in the top 10% will win something (or at least get their buy in back).

As you have likely guessed (but I have to mention for legal reasons) this partnership between SB and FanDuel involves them paying us some money. SB Nation is a business and they do have to make some make some money.  And FanDuel did give me an account with $50 in, last year, as an incentive to try the game. SB is funded by advertisers, which isn't fun, but cheese doodles don't grow on trees. They need to have to bring in money some how to keep this place up and running. But, if we gotta have ads, at least FanDuel is fun.

Good Luck to all who play. Course, you won't need any luck to beat me.

SB Nation is hosting a $6,000 one-day Fantasy Baseball league for MLB Opening Day on FanDuel. It's $5 to join and first place wins $1,000 and four tickets to a game.
