GameThread for Blue Jays first spring game of 2015

Yay! Baseball!

Jonathan Dyer-USA TODAY Sports

It may be a frosty -15 in Calgary this morning, but we have the first sign of spring. Baseball. And it is on Sportsnet.

Also, with the first game of the season becomes a reminder to me that I need to find a sucker an eager volunteer to do GameThreads this year, but we'll talk about that later.

Real baseball. Can you believe it. It seems like it has been the longest off-season ever. I'm tired of talking about potential baseball, I want to talk about real baseball.

Being a home spring game, the Jays have a number of their regulars in the lineup.

Today's lineups:

Lineup

BLUE JAYS PIRATES
Jose Reyes, SS Jaff Decker, CF
Russell Martin, C Sean Rodriguez, 2B
Jose Bautista, RF Gregory Polanco, RF
Edwin Encarnacion, DH Starling Marte, DH
Josh Donaldson, 3B Pedro Alvarez, 1B
Justin Smoak, 1B Jung Ho Kang, SS
Maicer Izturis, 2B Jose Tabata, LF
Kevin Pillar, LF Deibinson Remero, 3B
Dalton Pompey, CF Tony Sanchez, C

Planned pitchers for the Jays are Aaron Sanchez, Marco Estrada, Steve Delabar, Kyle Drabek, Miguel Castro, Gregory Infante and Wilton Lopez.

Pirates have Casey Sadler starting, and Stolmy Pimentel, Bobby LaFromboise, Rob Scahill, Brad Lincoln, Arquimedes Caminero and Josh Wall planned to follow.

Minor Leaguer would like you to take a look at this table. You'll see that there has only been 37 games in team history that a catcher hit second in the roster. 19 times it was Gregg Zaun, 14 times it was Ernie Whitt, Geno Petralli 3 times (I forgot that Geno was a Blue Jay, but since he only played 25 games with us. Later he played for the Rangers and was a pretty good catcher) and Pat Borders once.

Remember we have rules around here. Some reminders, don't talk about illegal streams, don't argue the rules, don't piss off the mods and don't be terrible. Also no Gifs or pictures until the game ends.
