We are learning what the roster will look like. At the moment the only question is "Do they go with a 7 or 8-man bullpen?" If it is 7 Ryan Goins makes the team, 8 he doesn't.
Things we know:
- Josh Thole is optioned to Buffalo. Catchers are Russell Martin and Dioner Navarro. Martin will catch Dickey. Navarro will get some DH at bats.
- Justin Smoak and Danny Valencia make the team and more or less share the first base job with Encarnacion.
- Steve Tolleson makes the team.
- Daniel Norris makes the team in the rotation, Drew Hutchison starts opening day.
- Devon Travis is the second baseman.
- Kevin Pillar plays left until Saunders returns.
- Dayan Viciedo is cut...
either going to Buffalo or released, not sure at the moment.Viciedo asked for, and was given, his release. - The bullpen appears to be Cecil, Loup, Castro, Osuna, Redmond, Hynes, Estrada. But that could change with arms becoming available from cuts with other teams.
- The two on the bubble appear to be Hendriks and Goins. If they go with an 8-man pen (please no) it is Hendriks, if not it is Goins.
- Bench would be (depending on who's playing first) Valencia, Navarro, Tolleson and maybe Goins.
We have a fair number of rookies: Travis, Castro, Norris, Sanchez, Osuna and Pompey.
I really don't understand why the Jays are so in love with the 8-man bullpen....it seems like a wasted spot to me.
If Osuna doesn't make team, Anthopoulos says likelihood is he'll start as a starter at Dunedin. No decision yet. #BlueJays #MLB

Either he's a major leaguer or he's playing A ball.....very strange.
