We haven't done one of these since January and the start of the season is a good time to take everyone's temperature.
Last poll ran 69% approve, 18% neutral and 13% do not approve.
Of course, going 3-1 and playing pretty good baseball will likely likely help his numbers. He has put together a very good lineup. The Devon Travis trade seems to have worked out great. I'm a fan of Dalton Pompey in CF, he's having a slow start with the bat, but I think things will work out. Being at the games in Montreal for the Russell Martin love in didn't hurt my view of him. The jury is still out on Justin Smoak, but his defense is looking pretty good.
On the negative side, I hate the 8-man bullpen (though last night's 19 inning game between the Yankees and Red Sox makes it look somewhat better). I wish we had Ryan Goins up so we could rest Jose Reyes in a blowout game or when he appears hurt early in a game. I wish we had a better fourth outfielder so Jose Bautista could come out of games in blowouts (I know he came out yesterday, but Steve Tolleson really doesn't look like an outfielder out there). I would rather Miguel Castro be in the minors to continue to develop as a starter, but I'm willing to live with him on the Jays. Roberto Osuna, on the other hand, only pitched 23 innings last year, after Tommy John the season before, I really think he should be in the minors building up arm strength. I don't want him losing another development year. They have both been pitching well, and it does seem that they will be getting a fair bit of work, Gibby likes them.
I am more than a little worried about the lack of depth at almost very spot on the diamond. If we can stay healthy, all is good, but then staying healthy seems to be a problem for the Jays.
We do seem to have some payroll room to make a deal at the deadline this year. It might come in handy.
Anyway, give us your vote.
