Blue Jays Minor League Report - April 17

Baby Birds split their 4 games on Saturday. Buffalo wins their 5th straight and Dunedin gets back in the W column

Buffalo Recap
Buffalo picked up their 5th straight win in a low scoring game. Offensively, Buffalo had 8 hits and 7 walks. They struck out 7 times as well.

  • Chad Jenkins started and aside from a rough 1st, he threw 5 solid innings. Jenkins allowed 2 hits, including the solo HR. He struck out 3 and got 7 ground outs
  • Ryan Tepera went 2 innings, allowing 1 hit & 1 walk
  • Bo Schultz threw the final 2 innings with 1 hit allowed & striking out 1

  • Chris Colabello hit his 2nd HR of the year, which was the difference. He also walked
  • Josh Thole had 2 singles
  • Ezequiel Carrera & Munenori Kawasaki both had a single and a stolen base
  • Andy Wilkins, Caleb Gindl & Jonathan Diaz each had a hit
  • Chris Dickerson added a stolen base after walking in the 1st.

New Hampshire Recap
New Hampsire loses their 3rd straight to fall back to .500. The offense had 10 hits, but was only able to score 1 run

  • Michael Lee had a rough outing. He lasted 4.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 walks. Lee recorded 5 strike outs
  • Greg Burke followed with 1.1 innings, with 1 K
  • Dustin Antolin pitched a scoreless inning, but allowed 2 hits
  • Arik Sikula had a scoreless inning as well, allowing just a single

  • K.C. Hobson had 3 hits to pace the Fisher Cats
  • Dwight Smith & Matt Newman both had 2 singles. Newman also added an outfield assist
  • Jon Berti, Kevin Nolan & Jorge Flores each had a hit

Dunedin Recap
Dunedin got strong pitching and just enough offense to get back to the .500 mark

  • Jairo Labourt had a solid start. He threw 4 innings, striking out 8 batters. He also got 6 ground ball outs. He did give up a run on 4 hits and a walk. A much better day than his previous start
  • Tiago Da Silva went 2.2 innings. He allowed a run on 2 hits. He struck out 4. Not sure he qualifies as interesting, but it appears the Brazilian is only in his 2nd year of pro ball as a 30 year old
  • Chad Girodo continues to get the job done, but it doesn't look great. Went 1.1 innings with 2 hits and a walk allowed
  • Wil Browning shut the door, allowing a hit and striking out 1 in the 9th

  • Emilio Guerrero had 2 hits, including his first HR of the year
  • Dawel Lugo hit his 2nd HR of the season
  • Matt Dean had 2 hits, including a triple
  • Roemon Fields, Mitch Nay & Christian Lopes each had singles

Lansing Recap
Lansing lost their second straight game, as their bats continue to be quiet

  • Conner Greene allowed 5 runs in 3.2 innings. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2. Greene did get 5 strikeouts
  • Alonzo Gonzalez went 4.2 innings in relief, allowing 4 runs. He gave up 6 hits as well, walking 3. Gonzalez did get 4 K's and 8 ground outs.
  • Jose Fernandez pitched the last 0.2 innings getting 2 ground outs

  • D.J. Davis had 2 hits, including a triple. He also added a sacrifice bunt
  • Josh Almonte had 2 hits as well
  • Richard Urena, Ryan McBroom, Danny Jansen & Dickie Joe Thon each had a single
  • Rowdy Tellez & Gunnar Heidt both had 0 for's, with 2 K's. Thon struck out 3 times as well
