The Tampa Bay Rays claimed Preston Guilmet off waivers from us. I had some hopes for Preston, figuring at some point he would be helping out with the Jays. He pitched in 10 games with the Bisons, with a 1.26 ERA. In 14.1 innings, he allowed 10 hits, 3 walks ans 12 strikeouts. The Rays have had more than their share of pitchers going down with injuries. They put Drew Smyly on the 60-day DL, to make room for Guilmet, and Alex Cobb has just had Tommy John. They have 8 pitchers on the DL.
I could have done without the Jays losing him, and even less pleased that the Rays get him. Guilmet was put on waivers so that Steve Tolleson could be called up.

And, if you are in the Calgary area, and if you know a young pitcher that would like some professional coaching, Bruce Walton, former Jays pitching coach is retiring from full time coaching and setting up shop here to help up young pitchers. I think it is a little late for me, but I doubt there is anyone around who would be better to teach pitching.
