Blue Jays sign Luke Scott to minor league contract, yeah...that Luke Scott

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

There was this:

Luke is a 36 year old, left-handed hitting outfielder. He had some good seasons with the Astros and Orioles, but that was a little while ago. In total, in 9 seasons he hit .258/.340/.481 with 135 home runs, 889 games. He last played in the majors with the Rays, in 2013, hitting .241/.326/.415 with 8 home runs in 91 games. Since then he had a few games in the Korean baseball league, until calling his manager a liar and coward. And, this year, he's been in the Mexican league, hitting .292/.400/.519 with 7 home runs, in 28 games, playing for Pericos de Puebla.

You might also remember that Scott wasn't a supporter of Barack Obama, suggesting that Obama wasn't born in the US, saying:  "I was born here. If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go - within 10 minutes - to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, 'See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.' The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn't answer anything. And why? Because he's hiding something."

Wait until he finds out that we have socialized medicine.

Unless things go very badly, he's just depth for the Bisons.
