Blue Jays put Devon Travis on the DL, Munenori Kawasaki called up

He's back.

We kind of figured that this was going to happen, but the Blue Jays have put Devon Travis on the DL and have called up everyone's favorite middle infielder Munenori Kawasaki. Devon's 15 days will be back dated to May 16th, when he last played.

Devon has sat out the last 6 Jays games, with what the Jays are now calling an inflamed left shoulder. Devon was hitting .271/.336/.504 in 36 games this season. He started off hot but his bat has slowed of late, maybe, in part, because of the little bangs he's been taking. He seems to be a magnet for baseballs. He's been hit by pitch twice, took that hard ground ball off the shoulder and has been hit turning the double play several times.

Kawasaki is hitting .232/.354/.290 in 22 games at Buffalo. He likely won't be up with the Jays for long, as the Jays plan to activate Jose Reyes on Sunday. Munenori has hit .244/.327/.302 in 178 games for the Jays over the past two seasons. He has had more than his share of great moments with the team. He should liven things up in the dugout, if nothing else.

The hits just keep coming. I'm hoping Devon will be back in early June.
