Though it hasn't been a great couple of weeks for the Blue Jays, but the pitching seems to be coming around. Over the past two weeks the Blue Jays were 4-9 with a 4.58 ERA. There aren't a lot of up arrows but we seem to be slowly getting
Pitchers
R.A. Dickey
R.A. had 2 starts, one was awful, one was very good. Against Houston he allowed 10 hits and 7 earned in 5 innings. The good one was a complete game where he allowed 5 hits, 4 earned with 7 strikeouts. 2 of the runs came in the 9th inning when we were up by 6 and 2 runs didn't matter.I'm hoping that last start is a sign of things to come, apparently there was a change made before the start, he was taking a shorter stride when he threw the ball. Batters hit .273/.293/.582 against him, with 4 home runs, 2 walks ans 10 strikeouts.
Mark Buehrle
Mark made 3 starts, and none of the 3 were bad. He threw 21.1 innings, allowed 15 hits, 3 home runs, 6 walks and 13 strikeouts and had a 3.80 ERA. Batters hit .200/.265/.400 against him. He went 1-2, unfortunately we only scored 2 runs in each of his losses. Can't expect much more from him.
Marco Estrada
Made 2 starts, was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 12 innings. He went 5 innings in the first and 7 in the other. Batters hit .200/.308/.422 against him, with 2 home runs, 7 walks and 13 strikeouts. Pretty tough to complain about, other than we lost both games by a run.
Drew Hutchison
Drew made 2 starts, went 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA. Batters hit .229/.288/.375 with 1 home run, 3 walks and 14 strikeouts. With that sort of batting line it's hard to understand how he gave up 6 runs in his 12.2 innings. We lost his 2 starts by a total of 3 runs.
Aaron Sanchez
Aaron made 3 starts, we went 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA in 19.2 innings. Batters hit .270/.353/.419 with 2 home runs, 9 walks and 10 strikeouts. His last 2 starts he went 14 innings and allowed 5 runs. He seems to improve each start.
Brett Cecil
Pitched in 4 games, we did find any save opportunities for him. In 4 innings he allowed 4 hits, 1 double, 1 home run, 0 walks, with 6 strikeouts. That's a .250/.250/.500 line
Roberto Osuna
Roberto pitched in 6 games, picked up a win and a hold. Batters hit .059/.105/.059, he gave up a single and a walk in 19 PA. He struck out 6. He's been amazing.
Aaron Loup
Aaron pitched in 5 games. One went very very bad, blown save and loss. He gave up a run in another, the other 3 were good. Batters hit .421/.450/.684 with a homer, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.
Steve Delabar
4 games, had a hold and a blown save. In 2.2 innings, he allowed just 1 hit, a double, 4 walks, with 4 strikeouts. Batters hit .125/.417/.250. Too many walks and we don't get enough leads, so the blown save stands out, but he's been good.
Liam Hendriks
Liam's pitched in 6 games and had a blown save. He only gave up runs in only of the appearances. He had a 2.45 ERA, in 7.1 innings. Batters hit .125/.222/.417 with 2 home runs (both in the blown save game), 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. He's been very good, except in that game that we needed him to be very good.
Ryan Tepera
Ryan's pitched in 4 games, 2 he allowed runs, the other 2 he pitched a perfect inning in each. In all 5.1 innings, 5.06 ERA, batters hit .238/.273/.571 with 2 home runs, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Todd Redmond
Came up, made a start, went back down. His start lasted 4 innings, the first 3 were great, the last one kind of sucked. The good news is we won the game.
Scott Copeland
Scott is up with the team....at least, as I'm typing this, but he hasn't pitched since that last call up.
Jeff Francis
Pitched in one game, faced 2 batters, gave up hits to both....and was DFAed.
