Rough night for the Baby Jays as they go 0-4 on Tuesday night. Matt Smoral made his 2015 debut for Dunedin and Luke Scott, Shane Optiz & D.J. Davis each homered in losing causes

Buffalo Recap
Buffalo gave up 3 in the 3rd and 4 in the 5th as they fell to Indianapolis on Tuesday night. Buffalo had 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 8 times. The Herd also committed 4 errors on the night. Indianapolis picked up 11 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 8 times. The big blow was a grand slam from the #8 hitter in the 5th inning.

  • Andrew Albers followed up his worst start of the year with an even worse game. Albers went 5 innings, allowing 8 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks. He did record 4 strike outs. Albers also had a wild pitch. For the night Albers had 8 ground outs as well
  • Luis Perez followed with 3 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and struck out 4
  • Rob Rasmussen had a perfect inning of relief as well

  • Luke Scott had a double and a home run for Buffalo. He also scored 2 runs
  • Chris Dickerson picked up 2 hits, including a double
  • Andy Burns had 2 hits in this one
  • Dioner Navarro picked up a double in his first rehab game. He also picked a runner off 1st base and allowed 2 stolen bases
  • Jonathan Diaz had a hit
  • Matt Hague had a rare off night as he went 0-4 with 2 K's
  • Ryan Schimpf had a walk and a run, and threw a runner out at 2nd.

New Hampshire Recap
What started out as a tight game through 5, quickly turned as Reading put up 3 runs in the 6th and again in the 7th on their way to a 10-1 defeat of New Hampshire. New Hampshire put up 6 hits and 2 walks, while only striking out twice. Reading pounded out 16 hits, including 5 extra base hits. They also walked twice and struck out 6 times. New Hampshire also made 3 errors on the day

  • Joel Pineiro started and went 6 innings, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits and a walk. Pineiro struck out two. Pineiro picked up 13 grounds outs and 2 fly outs
  • Jimmy Cordero made his AA debut and gave up a 3-run HR. Cordero allowed 3 hits and a walk, while striking out 2 in his inning
  • Cory Burns allowed a run on 3 hits in an inning
  • Blake McFarland threw a scoreless inning. He allowed a hit and struck out 2

  • Shane Optiz had a good game at the dish. He had a double & his 2nd HR of the year. He also struck out and made 2 errors in the field
  • Ronald Torreyes picked up 2 hits for the first time since joining New Hamsphire
  • Daric Barton had a double and a strike out
  • Dwight Smith had a hit
  • Jorge Flores & Ian Parmley both had walks

Dunedin Recap
Dunedin picked up a run in the top of 1, but gave back 3 in the 3rd as they lost a tight game 4-3 to Jupiter. Dunedin picked up 6 hits and 3 walks on the night, while striking out 8 times. Jupiter ended up with 11 hits and 2 walks, and they struck out 7 times. Dunedin made 1 error and Jupiter made 2.

  • Jeff Hoffman started and allowed 4 runs over 4.1 innings. Hoffman gave up 10 hits and a walk plus he struck out 4. Read more about that here
  • Matt Dermody threw 1.2 scoreless innings. He allowed a hit and struck out 1
  • Matt Smoral made his 2015 debut with an inning of scoreless relief. Smoral was his regular self, giving up a walk, striking out a batter, hitting a batter and throwing a wild pitch
  • Phil Kish had a perfect inning of relief, striking out 1

  • Dawel Lugo picked up 2 hits and a strike out. Lugo picked up his first stolen base of the year
  • Dickie Joe Thon had 2 singles and a K
  • Roemon Fields had a double and scored 2 runs. Fields also picked up 2 stolen bases
  • Alex Hassan had a hit in this one and drove in 2. He also threw a runner out at the plate
  • L.B. Dantzler, Matt Dean & Mitch Nay combined to go 0-10 with 2 walks and 4 strike outs. Nay also was caught stealing

Lansing Recap
Lansing gave up 3 in the 6th and then traded 3-run innings in the 8th as they fell to Bowling Green 8-4. Lansing picked up 11 hits on the night. They struck out 8 times. Bowling Green had 12 hits for the game, including 5 extra base hits. Bowling Green struck out 6 times. Each team hit a batter, but it was a rare A-ball game with 0 walks allowed. The big difference is Lansing made 3 errors which lead to 4 unearned runs.

  • Chase De Jong started and went 5.2 innings. He allowed 5 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits. De Jong struck out 4 and gave up a solo HR
  • Jose Fernandez had 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out 1
  • Dusty Isaacs pitched an inning and he gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 1

  • D.J. Davis had 2 hits, including his 2nd HR of the season. He was also picked off 1st base
  • Anthony Alford had 2 hits and a strike out. Alford also picked up an outfield assist and made an error
  • Richard Urena had 2 more hits, his 4th straight multi-hit game. Urena struck out once and made a fielding error
  • Tim Locastro picked up 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. Locastro also had a stolen base and was caught stealing
  • Chris Carlson had a double and a K
  • Rowdy Tellez & Danny Jansen each had a hit
