Blue Jays Minor League Report - May 3

The Baby Jays had a better Sunday, going 3-1 with some exciting performances.

Buffalo Recap
Buffalo used a 3 run 8th inning as the difference in a 3-2 win over Louisville on Sunday. Buffalo was opportunistic to pick up the win as they had 8 hits and 4 walks. The Herd only struck out once in the game. Louisville put up 11 hits and took 5 walks, but went 0-12 with runners in scoring position. Both teams made an error as well.

  • Randy Wolf started and went 6 innings. He allowed an unearned run on a Randy Wolf error. Wolf gave up 7 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 4. Wolf did a good job in this one getting 10 ground outs
  • Todd Redmond wasn't great out of the bullpen, giving up a run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He also gave up a walk and struck out 2
  • Steve Delabar pitched 0.2 and got a ground out and a fly out
  • Bo Schultz pitched the 9th and played with danger, giving up 2 hits and a walk, but no runs. He also struck out 1

  • Brad Glenn had the big game in this one, going 2-4 with a 2-run triple in the 8th that he also swam to home plate for the winning run. Glenn's swim here
  • Andy Burns had a single and a stolen base
  • Matt Hague & Ryan Schimpf both had a hit and a walk
  • A.J. Jimenez had a single, was hit by a pitch and fouled up a sac bunt by making interference with the catcher
  • Chris Colabello & Kevin Nolan added singles
  • Dalton Pompey made his AAA debut this year and picked up a walk after catching the Mayweather-Paquiao fight last night

New Hampshire Recap
New Hampshire picked up a win in a wild game by scoring 5 in the 11th, and then holding on for the 12-11 win over Binghamton. New Hampshire scored 3 in the 8th and another in the 9th to force extra innings. The FisherCats had 18 hits, including 2 HR's in this one, and 7 walks. Every hitter that came to the plate picked up a hit. They struck out 5 times. Binghamton had 16 hits, including 2 HR's (1 a rally killing grand slam in the 11th) and 3 walks. NH pitchers struck out 9 Mets in this one

  • Michael Lee started and gave up 5 runs on 9 hits in 4+ innings. He walked 2 and struck out 2
  • Greg Burke pitched 2 scoreless. He allowed 2 hits and struck out 3
  • Tiago Da Silva made his AA debut, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, including a HR, in 2 innings. Da Silva recorded 2 K's
  • Blake McFarland pitched 2 perfect innings, recording a strike out
  • Cory Burns gave up the grand slam in the 11th, on 2 hits, a walk and a hit batter. He also struck out 1

  • Jack Murphy only picked up 1 hit in this one, but it was a 3-run HR in the 11th. He also struck out twice
  • Matt Newman went 1-3 with 3 runs scored. He hit his 4th HR of the year and also picked up 3 walks
  • Jon Berti had a good game, picking up 4 hits, including 2 doubles. He was picked off and caught stealing, but also had an outfield assist
  • Jorge Flores had 3 hits, including a double. He scored 2 runs and picked up a walk
  • K.C. Hobson had 3 singles and scored 2 runs
  • Jake Fox had a single & a double
  • Emilio Guerrero had a double, a walk and 2 sac flies. He also picked up his first stolen base at NH
  • Dwight Smith, Shane Optiz & Christian Lopes added singles. Smith also walked twice

Dunedin Recap
Dunedin picked up 5 runs in the 3rd and 3 more in the 7th as they picked up an 8-0 win over Clearwater. In the 3rd inning, Dunedin had 4 straight singles, followed by a bases loaded Hit By Pitch, then a walk and another single. Dunedin had 8 hits and 4 walks in the game. They also struck out 10 times. Clearwater had 7 hits and a walk. Dunedin also took advantage of a Clearwater error in the 7th.

  • Jayson Aquino had a good start, going 6 shutout innings. He gave up 5 hits and a walk. Aquino had 2 K's and got 12 ground ball outs
  • Brady Dragmire threw 2 scoreless innings. Dragmire allowed 2 hits and hit a batter
  • Chad Girodo pitched a scoreless inning as well

  • Derrick Loveless hit his 2nd HR of the year in the 7th, a 3-run dinger. He also picked up a walk and struck out once
  • Roemon Fields had another good game, picking up 3 singles and his 11th stolen base of the season. Fields also scored 2 runs
  • Ian Parmley had a hit, a walk and 2 K's
  • L.B. Dantzler had a hit and drove in 2 runs. He also was caught stealing for the 2nd time this year
  • Mike Reeves & Dickie Joe Thon had a single each. Reeves picked up 3 K's and Thon had 2 K's
  • Matt Dean scored a run on 2 walks and a K

Lansing Recap
Lansing allowed 5 runs in the 7th to become the only Jay affiliate to lose on Sunday, falling 6-5 to Bowling Green. Lansing had 10 hits, 2 walks and a hit batter. Bowling Green only had 7 hits, but 2 were homers in the 7th inning. They also walked twice and struck out 6 times. Lansing made 2 errors versus Bowling Green's 1. Lansing also picked up 2 pick offs in this one

  • Conner Greene started and gave up 5 runs in 6.1 innings. He seemed to be cruising until the 7th. He allowed 4 hits, including a HR, and 2 walks. He struck out 4.
  • Andrew Case took the loss, giving up a run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He struck out 2

  • Rowdy Tellez had a big game, picking up 2 hits, including his 4th HR of the year, a 2-run shot in the 5th. He also had a walk
  • Richard Urena had 2 singles
  • Jonathan Davis had 2 hits and struck out once
  • Ryan McBroom had a double and a K
  • Tim Locastro picked up a single and was hit by a pitch again. He also struck out once
  • Anthony Alford had a single
  • Danny Jansen had a hit
  • Justin Atkinson had 3 K's and a walk
