Blue Jays Minor League Report - May 5

It was a rough night for the Blue Jays throughout the system. Lansing had the best result, a game postponed by inclement weather as the Baby Jays go 0-3.

Buffalo Recap
Buffalo got bitten by the long ball in this one as they lost to Durham 7-0. Former Jay J.P. Arencibia picked up 2 HR's for the Bulls. Buffalo was only able to pick up 4 hits and 3 walks on the night. Durham had 13 hits and 4 walks. They also added a third home run in the game. The Herd bullpen got beat up a bit in this one.

  • Andrew Albers started and allowed a run on 5 hits and 2 walks. He gave up a solo HR and also struck out 5
  • Rob Rasmussen allowed 3 runs in 0.2 innings. He gave up 3 hits and a walk. He also struck out 1
  • Gregory Infante followed with 2 runs allowed in 0.2 innings. He gave up back-to-back HR's among 3 hits and a walk. He also struck out a batter
  • Colt Hynes pitched 0.2 perfect
  • Bobby Korecky allowed an unearned run in his inning. He gave up 2 hits in this one

  • Brad Glenn picked up a double and struck out once
  • Munenori Kawasaki had a hit and 2 walks. He also made an error in the field
  • Kevin Nolan had a single and a walk, plus he K'd once
  • Matt Hauge had a hit and a K
  • Ryan Schmipf had 2 K's on the night
  • Dalton Pompey went 0-4 with a K in his 2nd Bisons game

New Hampshire Recap
New Hampshire gave up 3 in the 1st and 4 more in the 2nd and wasn't able to get all the way back in a 11-9 loss to Reading. New Hampshire actually picked up 19 hits and 7 walks in this one but left 17 LOBsters. 7 FisherCat starters had multi-hit games. Reading had 15 hits, including 8 extra base hits, and 3 walks. Former Jay farm hand Art Charles picked up a HR, but continues to be a true 2 outcome player, as he struck out twice as well.

  • Austen Bibens-Dirkx doesn't seem to be enjoying the New Hampshire-Buffalo shuttle. He gave up 7 runs on 9 hits and a walk in 3 innings. He did record 5 K's, but gave up 2 HR's on the night
  • Arik Sikula had a rough night giving up 4 runs on 5 hits in an inning. He also walked a batter
  • Luis Perez was solid back in New Hampshire, going 3 scoreless innings. He allowed a hit and a walk, and struck out 3
  • Cory Burns pitched a perfect inning, striking out 2

  • Jorge Flores had a strong game, picking up 4 hits including a double.
  • K.C. Hobson picked up 3 hits in this one
  • Pierce Rankin had 3 singles and a walk. Rankin also scored 3 runs on the night
  • Jon Berti had a single and a double. He also added a walk and a K
  • Jake Fox had 2 hits, including a double, and walked twice. He also scored 2 runs
  • Emilio Guerrero & Christian Lopes each had 2 singles and a walk. Guerrero also struck out once
  • Dwight Smith had a hit and a walk, and K'd twice

Dunedin Recap
Dunedin fell behind early before getting on the board late in their 9-3 loss to Tampa. Dunedin picked up 8 hits and 6 walks. The D-Jays struck out 7 times as well. Dunedin went 1-12 with runners in scoring position, leaving 9 on base. Tampa had 16 hits and 3 walks. They also took advantage of 2 Dunedin errors.

  • Murphy Smith started and was hit around again. He allowed 5 runs on 8 hits and a walk. Smith recorded a strike out and needed 78 pitches to get through 4 innings. Smith has failed to get past the 5th inning in his 4 starts this year
  • Alberto Tirado gave up an unearned run in 2 innings. He allowed 2 hits, hit a batter and struck out 3. Tirado still needs to be in the strike zone more to be effective
  • Brady Dragmire got smacked around in his 1+ innings. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and a walk
  • Chad Girodo got out of a jam as he pitched an inning with a walk and 2 K's. He also kept his 2 inherited runners from scoring

  • David Harris had 2 hits, including a double. He also struck out the other 2 times up. Harris increased his K% to 26.2% on the year. Which is even scarier when combined with his 1.2% BB-rate
  • Ian Parmley had 2 singles and a walk. Parmley also picked up a stolen base
  • Matt Dean had a double and 2 K's
  • Dawel Lugo & Mike Reeves added singles. Reeves picked off a runner as well
  • L.B. Dantzler had a hit and 2 walks
  • Derrick Loveless had 2 walks on the night, but was also caught stealing
  • Mitch Nay had a walk, a K and a sac fly

Lansing Recap
Lansing had the best night in the Jays organization as they were postponed due to inclement weather. They will look to make it up in a double header on Wednesday

NH - New Hampshire continues in Reading (PHI) with an early game (11:35am). Matt Boyd takes to the hill

LAN - Lansing looks to get in a double header with West Michigan (DET) again. Chase DeJong gets the ball in the opener and game 2 is currently TBD
