Baby Bird Brief - Weekly Report

Last week the Baby Jays went 17-15 and scored a lot more runs than the record shows. Dalton Pompey bounced back in a big way since getting to New Hampshire, while Matt Boyd looked good on both his levels last week, and they were named Performers of the Week

Full disclosure.

I apologise for the lack of activity recently. Things have gotten quite hectic over the last week, so I am not sure what I will be able to do for daily recaps.Who knew that looking at buying a new house, selling your current house (and all the fun that comes from that), work picking up and kids would get supremely busy?

I am going to push to make sure I have the weekly reports, and hopefully they will be much more informative than this one. Again I appreciate all of your reads, reviews and questions up to date, and I am going to do what I can to get back to the daily recaps, but for the time being it will be uneven. Sorry all

Baby Bird Performers of the Week

Offense Dalton Pompey – Pompey had a good week of getting his mojo back as he moved back to New Hampshire. An OPS of 1.344 on a .400/.464/.880 slash was good enough to get the nod. His 3 HR’s helped
Honorable Mention – L.B. Dantzler – OPS of 1.342. Dantzler had a pretty solid week, but was one-upped by Pompey. Dantzler magically slashed .526/.500/.842 for the week

PitchingMatt Boyd – Boyd made 2 appearances this week with 2 teams and allowed 3 runs in 14 innings. Boyd walked 2 and struck out 12.
Honorable Mention – Chase De Jong – Pitched 7 scoreless innings with 4 hits and 2 walks allowed, while striking out 10

Buffalo
Buffalo had a 3-4 week last week with a -4 run differential, scoring 21 runs and allowing 25. Buffalo had a 3-game losing streak, which was followed by a 3-game winning streak, before ending the week with a loss in Matt Boyd’s Buffalo debut.

New Hampshire
New Hampshire had a rough week, going 2-4 and scoring 35 runs while allowing 28. Tough to be a plus 7 for a week, but only win 2 of 6. It will be interesting to see how New Hampshire responds this week, as their best pitcher was moved up.

Dunedin
Dunedin bounced back with a 5-2 week, which included a 2-game losing streak. The D-Jays scored 47 runs and allowed 39 for a +8 differential. Dunedin had probably their best offensive week of the season

Lansing
Lansing heads in to the end of the first half in a tie with Bowling Green for 1st in the division. Lansing had a 3-3 week which saw Bowling Green be able to get back to level, with Great Lakes only a game back. Lansing has 6 games this week against those two teams and will look to solidify their spot in the playoffs. Lansing scored 31 runs last week and allowed 29 but only 2 of the games were close.

Dominican Summer League
The DSL Blue Jays had a solid week as they were able to go 4-2 and score some runs. The D-Jays scored 41 runs last week and allowed 27 for a strong +14 differential. The Jays were able to take 2 from the Orioles 1 team, lost both to the Reds and then beat the White Sox twice last week.
